The project was born a few years ago by an American who, having moved to the Langhe, decided to spread this idea. In a short time has achieved great success in the territories of Langhe and Roero before, and now begins to be appreciated also in Monferrato, where for the moment there are only two big bench: one in Rosignano Monferrato, and one in Sala Monferrato, inaugurated Sunday, May 20 in Area near the church of San Grato, just adjacent to one of our vineyards.

It is a construction that is not easy to implement and must comply with the mandatory parameters to be able to see the light, such as the presentation of specific drawings, a car park near the area, an area that has certain proportions and above all the Presence of a great panoramic view at 360 degrees, definitely decisive element for the success or not of the work.

A Sala, 50th Unesco site in Italy, all these requirements have been met and even the small but dynamic country Monferrato can benefit from his bench, second in Monferrato, fourth in the Province of Alexandria and 48th in the Circle of association Who designed the Big Bench project.

Si tratta di una panchina di grandi dimensioni posizionata in un punto panoramico, che ha l’intenzione di riportarci alle dimensioni di quando eravamo bambini e vedevamo il mondo con meraviglia, sotto un altro punto di vista. Una volta che ci si siede su una di esse si vive un’esperienza intensa, da condividere con gli altri. Le panchine sono fatte per rilassarsi, e a differenza di una sedia o di una poltrona, sono larghe abbastanza da accogliere più amici contemporaneamente.

Il progetto è nato qualche anno fa da un americano che, dopo essersi trasferito nelle Langhe, ha deciso di diffondere questa sua idea. In poco tempo ha ottenuto un grande successo nei territori di Langhe e Roero prima, e ora comincia ad essere apprezzata anche in Monferrato, dove per il momento ci sono solo due big bench: una a Rosignano Monferrato, e una a Sala Monferrato, inaugurata domenica 20 maggio nella zona vicino alla chiesa di San Grato, proprio adiacente a uno dei nostri vigneti.

Si tratta di una costruzione non semplice da realizzare e che deve rispettare dei parametri tassativi per poter vedere la luce, come la presentazione di disegni specifici, un parcheggio vicino all’area, una zona che abbia determinate proporzioni e soprattutto la presenza di una ottima vista panoramica a 360 gradi, elemento sicuramente decisivo per il successo o meno dell’opera.

A Sala, 50esimo sito Unesco in Italia, tutti questi requisiti sono stati soddisfatti e anche il piccolo ma dinamico paese monferrino può beneficiare della sua panchina, seconda in Monferrato, quarta in provincia di Alessandria e 48esima nel circolo dell’associazione che ha ideato il progetto “Big Bench”.

“Si tratta di un’opera importante per il nostro paese, realizzata in soli 11 giorni, grazie al contributo dei cittadini che con tenacia hanno lavorato giorno e notte per permettere di avere tutto questo” ha affermato il sindaco Claudio Saletta, che ha inaugurato ufficialmente l’opera stamattina alle ore 12 con il taglio del nastro.
